Location: GAVH is conveniently located on the corner of Generals Highway and Epping Forest Road. 1/2 mile from ANNAPOLIS MALL. |
Admission:
All animals, including boarders, enjoy round-the-clock supervision with staff on duty 24 hours a day. When you leave your animal in our care, please do not leave leashes, bones, toys, harnesses, cat boxes, blankets, choker chains, etc. All flea and/or tick infested animals will be treated for fleas and/or ticks upon admission at a reasonable charge. A large and well-trained staff, as well as state-of-the-art security and monitoring devices, insure your pets' comfort and safety. No animal will be admitted for hospitalization or boarding whose immunizations are not current. Vaccinations may be administered to your pet upon his/her admittance.
Restraint:
Please have your pets under restraint, either on a leash, in your arms, or in a carrier while in the waiting room or the hospital area! Restraint is important for your safety and theirs. Cat carriers are available at a minimal charge.
Surgery & Dentistry Drop-Offs:
All surgery cases must be scheduled. Your pet should not be given food within 12 hours before admission, which should be between 7:30 and 9:00 A.M on the day of surgery. Water is OK overnight, but take it up first thing in the morning on the day of surgery.
If your pet has been scheduled for surgery, dentistry, radiology or a procedure requiring anesthesia, please inform the receptionist or doctor if he/she has eaten within the past 12 hours. Most surgery and dentistry are performed under general anesthesia between 9 A.M. And 5 P.M. Animals having dentistry or minor surgical procedures are usually discharged the same day.
Major surgical cases stay overnight or longer to allow for recovery from anesthesia and evaluation of the animal during the post-surgical period. Regardless of the type of surgery performed, you may call AFTER 4 P.M. for a progress report on your pet. If he/she will be staying the night, call again between 9:30 and 11:00 the following morning to make arrangements for discharge.
Although we are open until 9 P.M. weekdays, most animals are discharged before 6 P.M. to allow adequate time for the doctor to review instructions with you. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to discuss them with us.
Hospital Releasing:
Hospital cases are released only during doctor`s hours or by special permission of the doctor. It is advisable that you do not give your pet too much water or food at one time upon arriving home. This will help prevent nausea resulting from excitement
Fees:
We believe that fees charged in this hospital are just and equitable. Your bill will be presented in an itemized form; please feel free to discuss the matter of fees at any time. We appreciate your paying for services when rendered.

Hours:
Appointments:
An appointment system is maintained for the best interest of your pet and for your convenience. It assures sufficient time for proper surgical and medical care of all patients and conserves valuable time for you. Although your meeting all of our veterinarians is desired, if you prefer to see a particular doctor, please indicate your wish when making your appointment. If it becomes necessary to rearrange or cancel your appointment, please call us as soon as possible. We will return the favor.
Telephone:
In an emergency, telephone the hospital day or night. To make an appointment or reservation, please call between 8 A.M. and 8 P.M. For personal case reports from the doctor or for general information please call after 9:30 A.M. so that animals may receive morning examination and treatment with a minimum of interruptions.
Early Morning, Evening and Saturday Appointments:
Greater Annapolis Veterinary Hospital has worked hard to provide office hours that fit into even the busiest schedules. On weekdays, we are open for appointments from 7:00 AM to 9:00 PM. Saturday office hours are from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM. We also have early morning drop-off appointments, during weekdays, that allow you to leave your pets with us on your way to work and pick them up on your way home. Drop off appointments can be scheduled with our receptionists and pets can be dropped off as early as 7:00 AM.
Boarding:
GAVH is happy to offer boarding for your convenience. Fully air conditioned and heated, our facilities are designed for your pet's happiness, comfort and safety. Our trained staff is in careful attendance 24 hours a day and GAVH employs state of the art monitoring, alarm and power generation systems.
About a quarter of our 4 acre site is fenced, providing a secure area for "woodland walks" and appropriate exercise. Two outdoor walks are included in our charges for canine boarders. Up to two additional exercise periods per day are available at a charge of $1.00/walk.
There are also additional charges for supplying or administering any medication that your pet may need. You may bring your own food or rely on GAVH's large and varied supply. We encourage written notes, suggestions and instructions, as many of our boarders need the special care that we are particularly qualified to administer.
Vaccinations must be up to date and may be given upon arrival if need be. For the protection of all cats, feline boarders must be vaccinated for feline leukemia or have been tested within one year. A two day deposit is required for reservations over holiday periods and for boarding from Memorial Day through Labor Day. This deposit is refundable with cancellation within 72 hours of the reservation date. Please make reservations well in advance, keeping in mind that large dog runs are usually most in demand.
When arriving with your pet for boarding, please plan on spending the necessary time (about 10 minutes) to complete the detailed paperwork necessary to assure the safe, comfortable and carefree stay we look forward to providing.
Visiting:
You are invited to inspect our hospital facilities at your convenience. However, when your pet is a patient, please consult with your veterinarian as to the advisability of visiting your pet. Consideration of the welfare of your pet comes first and foremost.
